First of all, this debate did not really matter, at all.VP debates rarely make an impact, and even this one will only have an effect of a point or two either way in the long run. After this debate is over, nobody really cares about the VPs, and the focus can (finally) get back onto the candidates.
Second, the moderator was freakin’ terribad.I’m guessing this is a response to all the criticism she had leading up to the debate about her upcoming book.I think her only follow-up questions were “Senator, your response?“Governor?”. SNL had it right
Now, on to the debate, this flow chart pretty much sum’s up Palin’s performance:
EDIT: JESUS FUCK. Does anyone know how to make it so this god damned blag doesn't cut off my pictures?
If it doesn't show, go here : http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/Coppatop85/random/PalinFlowchart.jpg
As I said before, all Palin had to do was not drool on herself while eating her own snot, and she would have a fair showing, and she did just that. That’s about all she did right, not drool on herself.I mean, she’s not as dumb as Dan Quayle (P-O-T-A-T-O) , and not as crooked as Agnew (I hope), right?
Anyways, from the start Palin was chipper and full of all these Alaskan-folksy anecdotes, talked about “Joe six pack” (what about Joe thirty rack?), attacked Wall Street, and seemed like a “people person”, Biden was flat, but presidential.By quarter passed 9, I wanted to cunt-punt pailin through the television.“I’m not going to answer that question, instead I’m going to talk to the American people *wink*”Fuck you.Answer the god damned question, that’s what the debate is for, you cock juggling thunder-cunt.Meanwhile Biden, while speaking in Washingtonese, had fact, after fact, after fact.He didn’t make any gaffes, and as far as I can tell, most of his facts were true (enough for a politician).
Now, I don’t think she seemed overly STUPID, however, she did not answer the questions. She seemed confident, and relentlessly attacked Obama/Biden.Biden seemed flustered by her attacks a few times – Palin was winning the theatre aspect of the debate for the first half or so.As the debate went on, her COMPLETELY OVERDONE ACCENT became unnerving, and Biden really picked up steam.Palin definitely went over the top with he speech – look at older interviews and debates, there are about 1/googolplex the amount of “Doncha’s” “Becha’s” “Gotcha’s” and so on.Biden later started attacking Palin and McCain more, and threw out more facts. The moment when he appeared choked up about his kids was definitely a real moment, and will resonate with the people.
Neither candidate had a terrible performance, and neither was spectacular.Yeah, Palin did not answer the questions, but 90% of the time politicians don’t answer the question. She was just flat out honest about it.Instead of talking around the question, she just flat out said, “You know, that’s a gotcha question, doncha know, so you betcha I’m gona talk directly to the hockey mom’s and joe six packs out there, you know, betcha…. MOOSEN!”She really lost me by completely overdoing the accent, and blatantly looking at her note cards for half of the questions she did manage to answer.About half of her attacks missed their mark, but she had some zingers in there for sure.Biden seemed presidential, but hardly reminded me of “Change”.He had a lot of facts, and managed to get some attacks in as well.In the end, Biden may have helped Obama a little bit, and I don’t think palin hurt of helped McCain at all.The Economy is what is hurting McCain, people trust democrats more with the economy, and that is the #1 issue right now.I’ll score the debate as 80 points to 20 points in favor of Biden. Not that it matters, this debate will not significantly impact the dynamic of this campaign.
Now that all this VP crap is over, we can get back to the real campaign. As far as I’m concerned, this race is over.Obama wins. Why?McCain, the day after the debate, pulled out of Michigan.Did anyone else notice this got more headlines than the debate itself? You want to know why? It’s because McCain just lost, that’s why. In pulling out of Michigan, McCain is giving up not only on a battleground state, but on a whole demographic, the most important demographic, and the one that a candidate needs the majority of to win: White middle-class workers. This demographic makes up the vast majority of Michigan.By giving up there, he might as well give up in Idaho, Kentucky, Kansas, Arkansas, Ohio, etc… It is not smart to send a losing message to the demographic you need most.
So, even though McCain lost, I’d like to see him go down with a fight. Not because I want him to win, or go back on his word to run a clean, honest campaign (LOLOLOLOL), but solely for the fact that it is much more entertaining this way.
A few quick notes.Bailout – horrible idea.I’ve decided not to make a big post on it for two reasons. One, I’m no economist, and two, as much information as I’m finding that this whole thing was caused by de-regulation, there’s almost just as much that it was caused by over regulation (see: Community Reinvestment Act). All I know is that it’s bad.Nobody can say weather this will work or not, and since they passed the bill, it has dropped more than 1,000 points.Furthermore, the only difference as far as I can tell between the bill that was rejected, and the one that was passed, is adding 150 BILLION dollars worth of pork for stuff like Puerto Rican rum companies, American companies in Samoa, and wooden bow and arrow makers. It’s going to cost the average tax payer another 2,000.Yeah, people are defaulting on loans because they can’t afford to eat, or pay for gas, and you want to charge them another 2,000?You think they are going to stop eating first, or stop paying debt first? If you are in Massachusetts, please, on November 4th, vote YES on question 1 to repeal the state income tax.Save yourself 2K, and bail yourself out. While we’re here, vote YES on question 2 – decriminalizing marijuana.
Anyways, I’ll try to get debate updates in quicker than the day of the next debate.
Also, and while we’re here,

Alrighty, I’m back.I was working in the wilderness for a month, and pretty much had no access to news, internet, radio, or the papers.I did manage to catch the Obama v McCain debate last week, and take notes on it, so I’m going to write a quick review on that.I’ll be back to updating once a week, pending anymore long term work commitments.
There are no ties in politics; even if it is just by a fraction of an inch, someone is the winner.Though Obama received a big boost after the debate, I think that may have been because of Palin’s idiocy as of late rather than his performance. Most media outlets that I saw (and it wasn’t many at that time, due to me chilling with Moosen and deer) called the debate a draw.Anyways, onward.I need to get this out before tonight’s debate!
Going into this debate, I had low expectations for both candidates.Everyone knows speaking and debating is not McCain’s strong point, and I have yet to see Obama make a smooth on the spot speech or debate without a teleprompter.Hilary frequently mopped the floor with him in the primary debates, and most of his non teleprompter responses since then have had far too many “err…. Um, errr, well, uhhhs” in them. That being said, I think both performed very well, perhaps each even had their best performance in a debate yet.
I saw this debate as sort of a repeat between the Kennedy v Nixon debate of 1960.Those who heard it on the radio thought Nixon won, while those who watched it on TV though Kennedy won.I hate to compare a war hero to a vicious thieving bastard, but McCain was Nixon, and Obama was Kennedy and almost nobody listened to this debate on the radio.
McCain seemed to know more.He had more points in the typical debating sense, and was more specific.Don’t get me wrong, McCain can dance around a simple question such as “what is your favorite color?” (Blue, no, yellooooowwwww…..) just as much as any other typical politician, but he did it less than Obama here.I thought he answered the questions more directly than Obama, and used more evidence and facts. He also seemed to be the more assertive type, interrupting Obama frequently. You make take this as good or bad, but in terms of the debate, that is good. That is about the only thing he was able to do right. The rest of it (mostly perception and appearance things) he did horribly wrong.
His whole attitude was wrong. He was condescending as all hell, not even really looking at Obama the whole time and not using his name. This turns off a lot of people, specifically women (which may be the deciding factor in this election). It is disrespectful to treat a fellow nominee of a major political party that way, and people don’t like to see that.Just seeing McCain on stage at all is bad. Here you have this old, rigid, montone guy, next to the new, upbeat Obama; Old vs. New in a time where change is the coin of the realm. He sounded like he was reading from a god damned phone book the entire time.He once mentioned the “Cadillac of healthcare”.Who drives Cadillacs?Old people. He also seemed to think the public feels that the words “Earmarks” and “Pork barrel spending” are sexy and arousing. He said those words so many times. It reminded me of Rudy Gulliani, every answer was “I kicked ass on 9/11”.We get it, move on to something else.
Contrasting with McCain, you have Obama. He surprised the heck out of me with how articulate he was without the teleprompter.I don’t think he stuttered once.I think especially for Obama, this was his best debate. He seemed to dance around the questions more and was less specific, but honestly, perception is 95% of the reason people get elected. It’s a popularity contest, but the winner gets nuclear arming codes. He seemed very presidential and well prepared.I also think he may have eased the worries of many people (in the south) who feel he is “some scary black man” or he is “not like me”.He definitely appeared like one of the people and one who wants to do his best for this country. This guy is clearly the new hope and change ticket, despite McCain attempting to steal that thunder.
Obama’s biggest, and only real mistake here was saying that “The senator is right” or “I agree with the senator” on almost every question.Don’t agree with him, call him a cock juggling thunder-cunt that sleeps with goats…. figuratively at least.Make him wrong. He was also less specific than McCain, but they both danced around the first questions with the economy, unable to give a specific answer.Even when pressed by the moderator.
I give this debate a 65/35 split in favor of Obama, if you watched on TV.I think if you listened to this on the radio, McCain won, but nobody does that anymore.
On to tonight!First of all, the moderator, Gwen Ifil, has a book coming out entitled: “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama”.Yes.The moderator has a pro-obama book coming out, and stands to make SIGNIFICANTLY more money if he wins.Let it sink in…….
WHAT THE FUCK?!?!How the fuck did this happen? If you think that she is going to be unbias, you are completely wrong. And if (when) Palin tanks this debate, it will just give conservatives an excuse.
Anyways, tonight’s VP debate could be the most important one ever. While Palin is not at retarded as Dan Quayle, she is still (apparently) a moron.I will reserve final judgments until after this debate, but in this last week she has gone from media sweetheart to local water-head.Tonight, if she crashes and burns (a la Katie Couric interview, which was easy and predictable) it will bring McCain’s judgment severely into question.People are already uneasy that she “is just a heartbeat away from the presidency” (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP SAYING THIS!!).What she has to do tonight, and I think she will do, is ATTACK like an ape on PCP and steroids.I mean just beat the piss out of Biden and Obama. She has to take the flack off of her, and change the template of Thursday. She has to take the focus off of her apparent retardation.
Furthermore, if she bombs tonight, there wont be the excuse of sexism, because the debate is being moderated by [a super liberal] woman [with a pro-Obama book].Who knows though, she could really do well – I heard some clips of her Alaskan debates, and she did really, really well. However, no matter how well you debate, if you don’t know shit about national and international affairs, you are going nowhere.Yeah, you know your stuff on Alaska, but you have to know 100x that to be president.Who knows though, she just could be playing dumb with this interviews to lower the expectations for tonight.Right now all she has to do is look clean and not drool on herself and she wins.Maybe.I think Biden will wipe the floor with her though.I actually like him better than any of the other three candidates on the ballot.
I should have an update by Wednesday (away for the weekend with the girl) filled with my analysis on this debate, and maybe on the economy.Speaking of the economy, it looks like I’m going to solve this financial crisis.Economic genious? No.Rich foreign nation? No.Financial guru? No.
I’M A TAX PAYER.A taxpayer who is about to get fucked harder than Clay Aikenin prison. Thanks Uncle Sam, may I have another?
Oh, and if I hear the words “Main street” and “Wall street” in the same sentence again, I’ll unleash an army of sharks or bears on the world…. Or bears riding sharks… yeeees.
P.S. Dear McCain: If you are the anti-spending guy who is going to "NAME NAMES" of people who include pork barrel spending earmarks on legislation, why did you just APPROVE the new bailout package that added ONE HUNDER BILLION DOLLARS of park barrel spending without naming names? Oh, that's right, you're a politician. Ungh.
Because the title wouldn't fit: McCain’s roll of the dice, , the media goes bat-shit insane, liberals and conservatives switch positions, the experience issue and who really stands for change? Hippies suck. George Bush Speech Drinking Game.
I probably should not have started a blog knowing I will be away for a month with little to know access to internet, radio, or TV for September, but I did anyways. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for you) this will probably be my last post for a month, so it will be a big one – basically 4 posts in one. Feel free to read in parts due to length.
I also want to preface this entry by saying that (as of right now) I am not voting for McCain / Palin, but neither am I voting for Obama. Neither of them represents me. The person I most agreed with was Ron Paul, but he was written off as a crazy person.
McCain’s Roll of the Dice: Sarah Palin
Alaska – Coldest state, Hottest governor.
And so it came to be that on Friday, August 29th, 2008, that Hilary Clinton wept as she was blown out of the spotlight of women’s advancement by (yet again) another woman. Immediately upon hearing that McCain’s pick for VP was a female I was excited. No, not because I particularly want a female in the Whitehouse, but because I knew it would make these next two months very exciting, and very close. Democrats also instantaneously realized as evidenced by the complete media frenzy surrounding Sarah Palin. Before I learned anything about her (extreme right) conservative positions on the issues, we learned a lot about Sarah the person and Sarah the mother. After all, this is what the populous cares about, right? Look how many bases she covers
Let’s look at some quick factoids about Sarah Palin. 1. She is Female!- - Did you guys watch the DNC? There were clearly several disgruntled female voters. Seeing women interviewed I constantly heard the line “I’m not sure who to vote for anymore” or “I will NOT vote for Obama”. As much as women during the primary season said they were voting for Hilary based on the issues, and I’m sure a lot of them were, I’m also sure that a significant amount were also voting for her because she is a woman.
2. One of the People- - She’s an every-day American. People can relate to her, she’s a union member, hunts, is a hockey mom, she made her own career, and didn’t ride into the spotlight on her husband’s back, charters a fishing boat, grew up in the middle class. She is family oriented. People can identify with her.
3. Conservative - - While not much was known about her at the beginning, it was known that she was a conservative (more so than John McCain). I was saying that McCain needed to pick Romney if he wanted to win in order to galvanize and energize his conservative base. He successfully did so here. The republican party has rallied around this ticket, much more so than I thought they would. 4. Her kid has Down Syndrome -- And she knew well before Trig (her kid) was born and kept the baby. It is estimated that 1 million families in the U.S. have someone in it with down syndrome. When she made her speech at the RNC, she looked right at the camera and said “To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters. I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.” That is at least 1 million votes right there. 5. History of outing corruption and being honest- - She has a history of going against her party when corruption was involved, turned in the chairmen of her own party, resigned from the Alaska oil and gas commission because of what she described as “a lack of ethics.”. More here
Let’s go back to number 3. She is conservative, super mega ultra conservative. John McCain was long criticized for being too liberal and many, many republicans and people were not happy when John McCain locked up the nomination. This is why I figured he would HAVE to chose Mitt Romney if he wanted a chance in hell to win. He needed to galvanize his conservative base, and rally the republicans behind him with a true conservative. He managed to do this, and still give a big John McCain maverick “fuck you” to the establishment by picking an outsider like Palin. Palin is almost as conservative as you can be on most of the issues - - for teaching creationism in schools, for drilling in ANWR, against abortion even in the case of rape or incest, against gay marriage, and even gay rights, opposes regulation that protects the environment, very against socialized medicine, etc. The list goes on. I don’t agree with most of that stuff, but I’m glad that there as at least more of a choice, and more of a difference between the tickets. McCain is very liberal on a lot of things and even was considering being Kerry’s running mate in 2004. I don’t think that liberalism or conservatism is bad, but I do think that not having clear choices is bad for our country.
You don’t take a big risk unless you expect big payoff. I think McCain’s roll of the dice will pay off greatly. It already has. Historically at this time, Democrats are usually ahead. In fact, after both conventions democratic candidates usually receive double digit bumps in polling numbers. Obama only received 8 points after the DNC, and according to the latest CBS poll Obama and McCain are now EVEN. EVEN?!?! In a time where Obama should be absolutely destroying McCain and the republicans, they are even? The climate for republicans is so terribad because of our lame-duck president, George Bush, and the war, that this race should be no contest. Obama should be decimating McCain more than a school of sharks with head-mounted laser beams would destroy Stephen Hawking if he fell in the ocean covered in pig’s blood. And this is why I am excited. Palin has made this race interesting, and sent the media into a frenzy, it is quite hilarious to watch.
It is also hilarious to me, that in essence, Obama picked Palin and ironically, Palin may be what propels McCain to victory over him. Obama makes Palin possible, his complete lack of experience lowers the standard for people wanting to run this country (VP, President, or otherwise) and by NOT picking Hillary, which would have assured victory, and announcing that Hilary was never even considered for the position made it a HUGE advantage for McCain to chose a female. Enter Palin, stage right.
The Media goes Bat-shit insane
If anyone can not acknowledge the fact that on the whole, there is a liberal media bias, then you are either blind or retarded ….. or retarded and blind. There is a bias everywhere, most of the TV new channels are liberal, except for Faux News, and most of talk radio is conservative. However, three major newspapers in this country drive most of the stories and reporting on those outlets: the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Boston Globe. These are clearly left-leaning.
Most of the outlets have completely bashed Palin, or didn’t know what to do. On August 29th when it was found out that she would be the VP nominee, these news outlets didn’t know how to react. It was funny to watch Chris Matthew’s turn red in the face with eyes bulging as he did all he could to criticize Palin. Kerry blew up on ABC, Keith Olber(welli)man was no better. The Major papers which previously were all for the advancement of women’s rights (as seen by Hillary and other stories) were now asking the question “How can Palin raise her family and be VP?” “Can Palin have it all?” Are you serious? Can Palin have it all? Isn’t that the whole point of feminism? That women can have it all (just like men), a career and a family? These questions have never been asked of a man before in these outlets.
I commend Obama here for telling people to stay out of Palin’s family, but look at the front pages of these papers, what has been on them? TEEN PREGNANCY SCANDAL!! No talk specifically about Palin, or (rightfully) criticizing her on her positions. They have been parading her daughter around, and some have even reported that Trig was actually Bristol’s daughter, not Sarah’s . While this was reported on blogs, it was also mentioned in several major news outlets. Did anyone see the U.S. Weekly cover? BABIES LIES AND SCANDAL!! Only a month beforehand, the same magazine had a cover with Obama and Michelle stating “Why he loves her”. As for the troopergate scandal at first I was a bit flustered by this. It seems as though she used her power to fire Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monega because he would not fire or move around her former brother in-law. However, what most places failed to mention is that this person made death threats against her father, and tasered his own son.
Liberals and Conservatives switch positions
It is funny that so often conservatives take this position of having this moral high ground and a holier-than-thou attitude. This is most clearly evident on this issue of teen pregnancy. Conservatives often criticize liberals for their views on sex education, and chastise them when their teens get pregnant. I have heard the same conservative outlets and personalities bash the PARENTS of Gloucester high school students who got pregnant, and Jamie-Lynn spears now PRAISE Sarah Palin and Bristol Palin with regards to her pregnancy issue. They are saying how great it is she is having a baby, and marrying her high school sweet heart, that out there in Alaska things are different, and blaming society, not the parents (I.E. Sarah Palin) for her pregnancy. What was that about abstinence only education?
Liberals, on the other hand, are filling the roll of conservatives here, brining this out in the open, criticizing Palin, and making a whole mess of the thing. I am constantly reading and hearing “She should stay home” “How will she raise her family!?”. She should WHAT? STAY HOME? Are you serious, you can’t be serious. Liberals are telling a female to stay home with the family? I guess it’s only ok for women to advance themselves in society if they have a (D) next to their name. It’s funny how politics works. People’s true colors come out.
The Experience Issue
Let me start out by saying I don’t think that Palin has enough experience to be VP, let alone president if something happens to John McCain. She has almost no foreign policy experience, and before her (only) 2 years as governor of Alaska, she was mayor of a town the size of a high school district in Boston. That being said, I think that Obama has even less experience than her, and he is running for President.
Let’s break this down. Current Job Obama: Junior Illinois Senator Palin: Governor of Alaska Previous Jobs Obama: State Senator, Community Organizer (what?) Palin: Mayor of Wasilla, President of Alaska Community Organizer Conference of Mayors; City Council Member Executive Experience Obama: None Palin: Governor for 2 years, Mayor for 10 years Foreign Policy Obama: Chaired senate subcommittee on Europe but never called it into session, once gave speech to 200,000 Germans Palin: None, aside from bordering Russia and Canada Military Experience Obama: None Palin: In charge of Alaska Nat’l guard Bipartisanship Obama: Talks about reaching across the aisle Palin: Married to a non-Republican;Exposed corruption within own party; Campaigned for Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell against corrupt GOP congressman Don Young;Called out Sen Ted Stevens (R-AK) to “come clean” about financial dealings that are under fed investigation, appointed democrats to office while Governer.
Legislative Experience: Obama: Voted present almost 130 times, when he did vote, voted with party majority 96% of the time, Missed almost 50% of the votes in this current congress session. To my knowledge (and please correct me if I’m wrong) Obama has not AUTHORED ANY legislation. Palin: Passed a landmark ethics reform bill;Used veto to cut budgetary spending;Prevented “bridge to nowhere” that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.
Am I missing something here? I figured that Obama’s lack of experience would take this argument off the table, on both sides. But I guess not. I find myself shuddering when I agree with Newt Gingrich….
You can say all you want about Palin only governing a town of 9,000, but she actually DID STUFF. She was in charge of infrastructure, budgets, making sure her Alaskan town ran. Multiply that by 10,000 when she became governor. Yes, the population of Alaska might be smaller than the population of Boston, however, the sheer SIZE of Alaska presents a whole set of challenges on it’s own. Getting energy, supplies, infrastructure improvements, roads and bridges built, schools run, heat and food etc delivered across an area that large is amazing. Apparently she has done a superb job as well, she has something like an 85% approval rating.
Oh yeah, and I found this hilarious, I wish I could find a clip, but Obama is claming he has more experience. Want to know WHY he claims to have more experience? Because he ran a campaign for president. Here’s the quote: “Well, my understanding is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We’ve got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. So I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the last couple of years” He failed to mention Palin’s experience as GOVERNOR.
So, Obama thinks he is qualified to be president because he ran a campaign to be president? HAH! Circular logic much? I should start a campaign to be dictator of the earth. If I can run a campaign, clearly I am qualified.
Who really stands for change?
Change can be anything. If we elect a turd sandwich to office, that would be change. Obama has been spouting the “hope for change the we hope while changing hope… change.. hope”. It is very similar to 90% of bushes speeches, except substitute his “terror(ism)s” for Hope, and “Iraq or WMD” for Change. There you go. [ASIDE: Going to publish the George Bush speech drinking game in this post as well] Hillary had it right (again, shivers up my spine) To me, Obama is “Change you can Xeorx”. The current governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, ran a very similar campaign, and in his 2 years in office, he has done almost nothing, and delivered on Z-E-R-O of his promises.
What we really want is reform, and new ideas. I will give it to Obama, I think he has a lot of good, new ideas from outside Washington, but will he actually do anything? We are going to hear the “McCain voted with bush 90% of the time” thing like crazy. That is true. We cannot have another 4 years of a Bush regime. However, McCain has a proven history of also going against his party, and doing what he feels is right. McCain has co-authored legislature with democrats (see: McCain-Kennedy bill). Again, I ask, has Obama authored ANY legislature? I am serious, if you know, please tell me. I’m not saying he hasn’t, but I haven’t been able to find anything he has done. Voting, and doing are two different things. Obama was talking about ending the war for a long time. If he had any balls, he could have done so by now. The congress is democratically controlled at the moment, he could of easily wrote legislature for cutting off ALL FUNDING for the Iraq war, lobbied for it, promoted it, and had a vote on it. It may or may not have passed, but he could have at least tried. If it passed, we’d have to pull out. No money = no war. When Obama did vote, he voted with the majority of his party 96% of the time. It is not Bush, but it is not change either. Obama is more of the same, with less experience and more rhetoric. He talks about new politics, but I constantly see him dodging questions, being involved in minor scandals (rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, flag pin) stuttering without a teleprompter or pre-written speech (though I thought he was great on the O’riely factor, which I only watched cause Obama was on it), FLIP FLOPPING (illegal immigration, NAFTA, the war, wire tapping, etc)and just generally playing the political game. Not only do I think that Obama is a typical politician, I think he is playing the game better than anyone else ever has. That is my biggest reason for not voting for him, that and he wants me to speak Spanish to accommodate criminal illegal immigrants (hereafter known as crimmigrants). I’m not saying that McCain doesn’t do these things too, because he does, but he has a record, a long record to stand on, and people DO criticize McCain all the time, that has been done. The reason I’m on Obama’s case is because these things are so evident to me, but nobody else seems to notice. I told you this blog would come off conservative. Screw Old McCrap and George Bush. Happy. I don’t like either of them.
Who really stands for change? Fuck if I know, I just want Bush out and a new era of politics in. I think both candidates bring new ideas and ways of dealing with Washington to the table, but I also think they both bring more of the same. Regardless, whoever gets elected next is hammer-fucked due to the state that this country will be left in by George Bush.
I hate some Hippies
Watch this video, I don’t think I need to explain anymore. http://www.foundrymusic.com/video.cfm?id=18768 God damnit I hate hippies. Don’t get me wrong, I love their…. Well, their good nature, the “vibe” they give so to speak (or that may be stench), their culture is great, and hippies are generally nice people, and fun, but GOD DAMNIT BE USEFULL!! Crying in the woods over trees and rocks doesn’t do shit. Why don’t you plant some god damned trees, or start a protest at logging companies, jesus. It gives real environmentalists who actually do clean up the environment and actually do things a bad name. Fuck those people.
George Bush Speech Drinking Game

Any 9/11 reference, any Bush-ism
The title of this post are topics which I will have a post about on Friday or Saturday -- 12 hour work days do not make for blogging, but by the power of grayskull, I will have an update by Saturday night with the topics mentioned in the subject here.
Hello everyone, and welcome to my political blog. After a long break from writing I have decided to start anew with a different angle. So, let us get down to business in this introductory post.
About this Blog: My interest in politics was first perked in the year 2000, when at the young age of 15, I was still baffled that somehow this chickenshit buffoon of a president managed to get elected. I started paying attention to the news, and the world around me. At the age of 18 I figured due to the upcoming election and that I would be able to vote that I should do my best to be informed and knowledgeable about the candidates to make an informed vote. When our fearless leader was again elected in 2004 I was baffled and astonished and at this point my political addiction really began.
I started listening to talk radio whenever possible, watching news stations pretty much exclusively on the boob tube (save sporting events, south park and family guy), reading papers and internet articles, and just generally absorbing all the information I could. Let me go through my day in terms of how I get my information. Upon waking at 5:30, I watch the news while I get ready for the day and make/eat breakfast. While driving to work I listen to and call up AM and FM talk radio stations. While I am working (if I am able to, which is most of the time) I again listen to a variety of talk radio stations in my van or on a personal radio. Same thing on the way home. When I get home (usually around 3-4) I read internet news sites. When I eat/make dinner, and before I go to bed I again watch a variety of news stations. So pretty much the only points during the day which I am not up to date on the latest news are when I am at the gym, out pretending to be a photographer, and spending time with my friends. You could say I am pretty informed, and that is the point of this blog.
I want to inform you. While it was clear to me even back at the age of 15 that people as a mass are stupid, and elections are more a popularity contest where people blindly vote for a sex, race, D, or R, there was no point to me where this was more clear than the most recent primary season – especially for democrats. I cannot tell you how often in discussing politics with people that I wanted to slap them across the face and give them a news paper or article. Nobody knew why they were voting for their candidate aside from a few clichés, or reasons that had no reason at all.
“It’s about time a woman black man is president” “It’s time for change / we need hope for America” “My candidate has god on his side” “My candidate has the most experience”
That’s all well and good, but can you tell me one single SPECIFIC policy (not just I like xxx’s economic plan) this person has? No, they couldn’t. This angered and sickened me to no end.
So, as already stated, I want to inform you. In case you are wondering what kind of spin/lean this blog will have, well, that’s next. If you don’t care just look at the graph and skip to the end.
My Political Views
I’ll start off with this graph from one of those online tests:
Pretty damned close to center, and slightly Libertarian. Freakin accurate I think. I consider myself a Libertarian light – in that I am very in favor of small government, personal responsibility, privacy in one’s property and homes. Socially liberal, economically / governmentally conservative. I say Libertarian light because I feel they lean too much towards anarchism (lack of government) as opposed to smaller government. I am a FIRM believer in the constitution, at least, in it’s earlier stages. The constitution in it’s current form today would cause our founding fathers to roll over in their graves. It is in shambles, it is the bastard child of warmongering republicans and water head idealistic democrats. It has been shit on and all that remains is a figure for the ideals which this country was founded on, and mostly no longer exist. Anyways, here’s where I stand on the parties and the issues.
REPUBLICANS
These swine are so crooked that there should be a whole branch of government dedicated to helping these bastards screw on their pants ever morning. In the last eight years, George Bush has forever tainted and shifted the republican party from one that valued small government, personal rights, lower spending, lower taxes, and strong defense, to a party that takes away your freedoms and rights, dupes and lies to the people, relies on a 2000 year old book to guide their decisions, and doesn’t give a shit about international policy. The republican party as drifted so far to the right that the bastard child of Anne Coulter and Adolf Hilter couldn’t even fathom it.
DEMOCRATS
Hey Democrats: STOP TELLING ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE!!! The over regulation and political correctness is ruining this country and just as the republicans are taking away our rights in the name of security, democrats are as well in the name of political correctness, affirmative action, and the notion that they somehow they know how to raise me, my kids, my business, my family, and my life better than I do. If I want to call someone a kike jew nigger nazi on national TV while having sex with a dolphin, than that’s my own business. People can change the channel, and I can deal with whatever consequences may come. Democrats have gotten so caught up with fighting the republicans on EVERTHING and giving away my money to fat bastards in NJ and illegal crimmigrants that they forgot what they are supposed to stand for: Honesty, open government, looking out for the little guy, protecting those who are less fortunate citizens of this country, and encouraging personal freedoms. Fuck.
Government
I feel that Government should be SMALL. It says in our constitution that state power should override national power except when it overrules the constitution. This, in theory, is great, and something I am all for. Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10, federal laws trump state laws, regardless of what the constitution says. The purpose of government should be to protect it's people, and ensure that it's people all have an equal chance of obtaining happiness and prosperity without infringing upon certain unalienable rights. Less is more.
Environment
I don't think I have to go into depth here, look at my job. Environmental chemist. I'm like a professional hippy, except with 1/10th the idealism, 1000 x more usefulness and practicality, and I wear shoes and (generally) have good hygiene. I'm all for alternative energy (except wind because after construction and maintenace costs, that actually creates a net loss of energy) and think we should spend a lot more time, effort, and money researching this.
Abortion
I am for killing babies a woman’s right to choose. While we’re here, I’m all for stem cell research.
Guns
More guns. How do you think this country was formed? Guns, that’s how. The first step of creating a totalitarian state is disarming the public (followed by removal of free speech). In this day and age, I don’t want to have to rely on our government to protect me, my property, or my family from intruders, terrorists, or even ourselves.
Censorship
NO. Aside from yelling “BOMB!” on an airplane or similar situations, there should be none of this crap.
The Economy (+ welfare)
Did you know that the top 50% of wage earners pay 96% of the taxes in this country? Did you also know that you are in the top 50% if you make more than 22,000 a year? We are taxed out the ASS, it is god damned ridiculous. Lower taxes, lower regulation of trade and business, and let people live. My knowledge of complex economics is limited, but I know enough to realize that two of the biggest reasons we are taxed so much are welfare, and overspending. A HUUUGE number of people are on welfare or unemployment because although they are able, they do not get jobs. Our government enables fat lazy bastards in this country to benefit from being fat and lazy. There is no real incentive to get out of this system. Hell, if you are on welfare and you have kids, you get MORE MONEY. Can I get paid to stay at home, have sex all day and eat nachos? Fucking slobs. As for spending, THE WAR? By the end of this year we will have spent almost a TRILLION dollars, that’s 1,000,000,000,000. If we put that into… into anything else (stem cell research, alternative fuels, gold plated toilets for everyone in the US) it would have been better. The war is just a fraction of the problem. We spend so much money on useless crap, hell, I don’t even want to get into that. Just trust me. Pork barrel spending is rampart. Speaking of which…
Iraq
I’m not even going to talk about Afghanistan, because I really don’t know anyone who was against that. In terms of Iraq, there are four positions you can have on this war: I) Against going in, against staying II) Against going in, for staying III) For going in, for staying IV) For going in, against staying
My position is (correctly) IV. Let me explain. When Bush said back in 2002 before we invaded that (paraphrasing here) “We have clear evidence that Sadham has WMD and intends to use them, he is a threat to the US and it’s allies” you had to believe him. I know, I know, believe Bush, crazy right? You have to get past the fact that it is Bush, and past the fact that in hindsight, we know that the intelligence was flawed, inaccurate, and possibly not even there. You have to realize that this is a PRESIDENT saying this, and that this person, the most powerful person in the world has access to information that you don’t. What if tomorrow he said that Pakistan is going to nuke us? I would be A OK with us making Pakistan a pike of scorched earth. Still not with me? What if and when Obama is elected president, he says the same thing, would you agree? Like I said, you have to recognize the position, power, and intelligence (accurate or not) that comes with being president, regardless of who it is.
Now, I am against staying because the MOMENT we officially stopped looking for WMD, we should have withdrawn. Iraq was no longer a threat to us or our allies, and it was not worth a single US soldier, marine or airman even stubbing their toe to occupy that country of savages which has been at civil war since the dawn of time. Fuck those people. That would be like a cop coming to your house with a warrant to search for drugs, not finding any, but staying in your house anyways telling you how to eat, sleep, fuck, and live your life.
Foreign Policy
The Swiss have it right. How the fuck can you get mad at a country that keeps to itself and produces only cheese and hot big-titted blonde women? You can’t. I am a strict isolationist. Save instances where there is obvious genocide or a threat to us, we should keep to ourselves. Even with the genocide thing, why does it always have to be the US that handles it? Let other people deal with that shit. If we had even 5% of what we have spent in time and resources on other people, we would be in a far better place.
Drugs, Sex (Rock and Roll)
If you are on your property, or in private, you should be able to smoke, eat, shoot and screw whatever and whoever you want. Hell, even in public in some cases as long as you aren’t a danger to others. If you endanger yourself, that’s your own problem. Personal responsibility buddy. If a person wants to say, eat some high-powered acid and frolic on a beach at midnight, eat a bunch of mushrooms and wander around aimlessly (while having the time of their life) in their back yard, or eat 3 pills of ecstasy and have crazy wild sex (with whatever sex they please) in their bedroom, then let them. Stay out of my house and my life.
Conclusion
So, if you read all that, don’t worry, this is the end. I will try to update this thing about once a week. I probably won’t have too many links backing up my claims because frankly, that takes time which I am constantly short on. I have no political agenda here, and have no reason to lie, I just want to inform. If you respond, I may or may not reply to you (again, time thing) as I am most likely sacrificing sleep to write this in the first place. I will probably respond to Obama people though, because I have a lot of stuff to say about him. To my ultra-liberal friends, this will probably come off as a conservative type blog, but that is not my agenda. I just use logic, observation, and common sense to make my opinions about things. I was going to try and be objective, but that is pretty much impossible so I will do my best.
I hope to get out another post soon about McCain’s VP pick (Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin) and my predictions for this coming presidential race. I may write about the underwhelming quality of the DNC, that is, if I can get that post out before the RNC.
