A good part of that area is stuck in the pre-Renaissance age of Europe, only they have bombs instead of swords. I don't care what your ancestors accomplished, if you think that blowing up schools is a good way to accomplish anything then the word "savage" applies to you greatly. Civilization may have begun there, but now it's as if people there are trying to end it there as well. "Savage" was an appropriate word.

My statement there was slightly intentionally over...

My statement there was slightly intentionally over the top. While I realize that, as you state, civilization essentially began there, that currently the people who inhabit IRAQ are behaving in a savage manner. This is based on my observations of what is currently happening over there. I cannot know for sure because while I have yet to go there, I have talked to several people who have. Again, I am constantly reading up on the situation over there and based on what I know, they are savages.

"that country [Iraq] of savages which has been at ...

"that country [Iraq] of savages which has been at civil war since the dawn of time. Fuck those people."

Kinda ironic, considering the fact that the Mesopotamia area is sorta considered to be where civilization began.

Also kinda inaccurate. The region we now call Iraq has had it's fair share of wars and revolutions (I challenge you to find a region that hasn't), but has also had long stretches of stability in between. For instance, the region was a stable part of the Ottoman empire for longer than the US has existed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq#Ottoman_Empire).

Oh, and the "savages" comment, apart for being kinda offensive, is pretty much dead wrong. Babylon, and later Baghdad, were incredibly important cultural centers. You can thank that region for developing a hell of a lot of math (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonian_mathematics) and chemistry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonian_mathematics). The whole region was actually pretty kick-ass until the British screwed it up during the beginning of the 20th century (Cold War silliness also didn't help).

By the way, I totally agree that the US should get out of Iraq.
